200 oil tankers to leave for procuring fuel

Imphal, June 23 2010: Around 200 oil tankers are scheduled to leave Imphal for procuring vehicle fuel from Assam with security escorts on June 26 next, official source said today.

The step has been taken up by the authority of the IOC in Imphal and oil tankers have been asked to report on or before 2 pm of June 25.Action will be taken up against those tankers who failed to report to the IOC at Chingmeirong, said deputy manager, Om Galthouchung intimated oil tankers.

They were asked to report at the Chingmeirong Oil Depot without fail, the deputy manager intimated asking to give detail if any of them were outside the state.

The instruction was given taking into account the shortage of vehicle fuel facing in the state.

On the other hand, DGP, Y Joykumar today convened a meeting with the IOC officials and transporters.

Senior SP, Imphal West District L Kailun also took part in the meeting, a source said.

The meeting prominently discussed the problems arising out of shortage of vehicle fuel and measures that can be taken up for procuring the fuel.

A decision to send oil tankers at a time together with security escort was discussed in the meeting the source said.
