Kohima, July 17 (NEPS): The majority Sumi public living in Dimapur town has decided not to participate in the proposed "Solidarity Rally" to be held under the aegis of the Naga Council Dimapur on July 18 at Dimapur.

In a statement issued here, the All Sumi Students Union (SKK) said that while extending full support to the ongoing political dialogue between the Government of India and the NSCN (IM), this decision was taken to show their resentment against the NSCN (IM) cadres' "highhandedness" against the Sumi Naga tribe in particular.

In an emergency meeting at Tourist Lodge in Dimapur with the various Sumi organizations in connection with the inhuman treatment meted out to Imato Awomi, son of late I Vikheshe, Ex Minister, allegedly by the cadres of the NSCN (IM), and other such cases that had taken place in the past, expressed disappointment at the lack of positive response from the NSCN (IM) despite continuous appeal for justice by the community.
