Imphal, September 16: Leaders of the National Alliance of People's Movement (NAPM) and Asha Parivar called on Irom Chanu Sharmila today at the security ward of JN Hospital.

They have a face to face talk with the indomitable hunger striker for about half an hour.

Sandip Pandey of NAPM who led the team first introduced himself to the lone crusader against draconian Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act and then he introduced all his companions one by one to Sharmila.

Talking there at the security ward, the visitors remarked that the struggle of Sharmila is far above any human capacity and endurance.

Noting that all the peace loving of the world ought to support her struggle, they also pledged their unstinted support to her seven year old campaign.

After listening to the words of support and acknowledgement from the visitors, Sharmila said, "What I'm struggling for is for all the oppressed people of the world.

No amount of pressure or request will change my mind.

I'll not retrace my steps nor suspend my agitation until my aspiration is achieved or realised".

Extending gratitude for their concern and support to her struggle, Sharmila presented one greeting card each to all her visitors.

She also showed them several documents related to her seven year old campaign.

Members of the National Alliance of People's Movement and Asha Parivar have been participating in the five day hunger strike being organised by Manipur Forward Youth Front at Keishampat under the banner "Solidarity Fast in Support of People's Movement Against AFSPA 1958 and Irom Chanu Sharmila".

It is also reported that candles were lighted in Heirangoithong and Malom area in solidarity to the ongoing five day fast and the unprecedented persistent struggle of Irom Sharmila.
