Women's team going to Nagaland stopped

Imphal, September 16: The representatives of All Manipur Women's Council AMWOC Palace compound who set off for Nagaland to submit a memorandum to the Chief Minister of Nagaland SC Jamir were stopped at Sekmai by police.

About 150 women's representatives and a media team had set off for Nagaland in four buses today morning.

The team refused to return to Imphal.

They refused to take food also.

They are now halting at Sekmai on the road.

They expressed unhappiness for the refusal of the government to proceed towards Nagaland.

They said during the meeting held yesterday afternoon along with the Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh they were assured to extend all possible help.

The Chief Minister had ruled out the possibility of giving security to the team but had assured to contact Nagaland government regarding the matter.

There are many senior women in the team.
