Four demands passed unanimously

Imphal, July 16: Manipur Legislative Assembly today unanimously gave its approval for clearing a total amount of Rs 31,43,71,000 which relate to four demands of State Legislature, Council of Ministers, Secretariat and Information and Publicity after a thorough discussion by both the Opposition and Ruling Bench members.

Clarifying the charges of Opposition during the discussion of these demands, Chief Minister O Ibobi said that the SPF Government has become a jumbo sized Ministry due to inherent constraints of it being a coalition Government.

He asserted that the Ministers are going frequently to Delhi on some official programme.

Ibobi said that stem action would be initiated against those officials who are responsible for handing over official files from the Secretariat to private individuals.

Steps are also being taken up not to issue not more than 20 to 25 liters of petrol to the Council of Ministers, he said.

The Chief Minister also expressed satisfaction that the Printing and Stationeries Department had earned a total income of Rs 27.71 lakhs last year as against the target set of earning Rs 3.50 lakhs.

While informing the House that the renovation work of Manipur Bhavans at Delhi, Kolkata and Guwahati would be completed by August next, the Chief Minister disclosed that construction of one more new Bhavan at Guwahati is being considered.
