Kohima, July 15 (NNN): The All Naga Students' Association, Manipur (ANSAM) has issued another statement today with regard to the position of the Naga MLAs/Ministers in the Manipur Legislative Assembly.

Today's statement of ANSAM, while referring to the earlier statement, said that what it (ANSAM) really meant to say was if the Naga MLAs and Ministers in the Manipur Legislative Assembly had owned the moral responsibility that the Manipur Government had failed to safe-guard the Nagas in the State in all respects and want to resign to serve the Nagas then we (ANSAM) cannot stop anyone from supporting us.

The ANSAM statement also said that they would not force anyone (Naga MLAs and Ministers) to resign from their seats but added that they ( ANSAM ) would not stop the Naga MLAs/Ministers either from resigning and supporting the ongoing non-cooperation movement.

The statement of the student body issued by its spokesperson Ngachonmi Chamroy to Newmai News Network in Kohima today said "since the Manipur Government had failed to protect the interest of the Nagas it is upto every Nagas to think of the situation seriously.

Meanwhile, the South Nagas Union of Nagaland State ( SNUNS ) has thrown its weight behind ANSAM's indefinite economic blockade along the national highways leading to Manipur.

SNUNS in a statement said that it would follow whatever course of action ANSAM pursues.

The union also strongly condemned Manipur Government for deploying force to counter the ANSAM agitation which resulted in the shooting of one civilian by the IRB personnel.

In another development, a solidarity rally in support of integration of Naga homeland is being jointly organized by the Dimapur Naga Students Union, Naga Council Dimapur, Naga Women Hoho Dimapur and GBs Association Dimapur at Dimapur on July 18.DNSU president Obed Yimchungru said people from all walks of life would participate in the rally and elaborate arrangements have been made in Dimapur.
