Imphal, September 14: The proposed visit of a Ministerial team from Manipur to meet Nagaland Chief Minister SC Jamir and talk over the issue of providing adequate security along National Highway 39 within Nagaland stretch in the wake of the recent Piphema incident did not materialize.

The Ministerial team comprising of PCS Minister Ph Parijat, Works Minister Gaikhangam, Horticulture Minister RK Thekho, MoS Family Welfare Bijoy Koijam, MoS GAD Francis Ngajokppa, MoS Power Allaudin Khan and ex-Minister AS Arthur, was to go to Nagaland today, but on receiving information that Jamir has retired at his Dimapur farm house for the next two days, the plan was cancelled, reliable sources said.

Whether the Ministerial team would proceed to Nagaland or not will be decided next Monday after Jamir comes back to Kohima, sources said, adding that this time the Ministerial team would make sure to ring up Kohima in advance about the proposed visit to avoid any last minute cancellation.

In the meantime, Chief Minister O Ibobi has reportedly extended his personal invitation once again to the UCM to discuss the ongoing boycott of National Highway 39 at his office chamber tomorrow afternoon.

In an attempt to placate the agitating Committee, Ibobi is likely to make a fresh appeal to UCM to lift the boycott of NH 39 in view of problems being faced by the people.

Many vehicles are also stranded mid way, sources informed.
