Hand over Piphema culprits to CBI: BJP

Imphal, September 13: The BJP Manipur Pradesh has demanded that the arrested four members of the gang involved in the Piphema incident should be handed over to a neutral investigating agency like CBI.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Minister, BJP promised that it would ensure that the whole process of investigation and trials is fair besides helping in booking the culprits for the crime.

Pressurizing the State Government further to pursue the matter with the Nagaland Government, the letter signed by party general secretary, N Ram Singh said the move would help to uncover the ulterior political agenda, if any, behind the barbaric act and restore the confidence of the travelers on NH-39.Meanwhile, All Manipur Nupi Marup, Imphal, AIYF, Manipur State Council, All India Students� Federation, Manipur State Council, Manipur Keithel Marup and Manipur Forward Youth Front jointly submitted a memorandum condemning the Piphema incident to Nagaland Governor, Chief Minister, Naga Hoho and Naga Mothers� Association yesterday.

The memorandum said that the recent Piphema incident, in which not only three Imphal bound buses and two trucks were looted but the chastity of two woman passengers were also violated by armed looters, has shocked one and all and touched the conscience of very civilized citizens.
