Imphal, October 10: There is a big possibility of a social upheaval in the State if the State Govt as well as the Central Govt does not do anything to prevent the NSCN (IM) leaders from attending a public meeting at Senapati tomorrow, said a highly placed source who also informed of the SPF Government legislatures endorsing the decision of State Cabinet to release the 13 NSCN (IM) members arrested from Tulibari of Senapati district recently.

The source further informed that the Chief minister O Ibobi had intimated to the Union Home Minister LK Advani last night expressing deep discontentment over the holding of a public meeting organized by NSCN (IM) cadres at Tamenglong despite assurances from the Central Govt that it would prevent it by all means.

It also added that the message clearly warned that Manipur Govt would be constrained to take up necessary actions against NSCN cadres if the Centre does not prevent them from organizing similar meetings in other hill districts of the State.

Informing that the head of Intelligence Bureau KP Singh has clarified in a written statement to the State Govt today that the Tamenglong incident was a grave mistake on the part of the Central Govt, the source added of KP Singh informing that strict instructions have been given to the NSCN Ceasefire Monitoring Cell in Dimapur to refrain from organizing meetings inside Manipur.

Meanwhile, a meeting of the SPF Legislature party held at the Chief Minister's office complex this evening resolved to pressurize Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his visit to the State on Oct 29-30 to give an assurance to the people that the ongoing peace talks between the centre and NSCN (IM) would not alter the geographical boundary of the State.

The members present at the meeting also resolved to submit a memorandum to the PM.

A committee was also formed to look after this delicate issue, said the source.

The Prime Minister who will be arriving at the State's capital in a special flight on October 29 will be inaugurating and attending foundation stone laying function of various important projects.

The PM will then meet the Governor, Chief Minister and his Council of Minister the following day, said the source adding that PM will be asked to give his assurance regarding the safeguard of the territorial integrity of the State on the same day.
