Imphal, April 08: Following the numerous restrictions and diktats imposed by different underground outfits on the election process, an all political party presided by the Chief Minister was held this evening at the CM's Secretariat to discuss the situation.

Speaking to The Sangai Express a reliable source informed that the meeting decided to highlight the ground realities to the Election Commission of India and seek its help to ensure a free and fair polling.

A disappointed Chief Minister informed the members present at the meeting that though the State Government had requested the Centre to deploy 200 companies of security force for the election, the Centre has obliged with only 79 companies.

The recent development has more than made it clear that the security personnel deployed here will not be in a position to tackle the situation, the Chief Minister observed.

Under the circumstances, the Election Commission of India may be requested to reschedule the election to a latter date, the CM observed.

The meeting discussed in detail the likely consequences following the diktats announced against some political parties as well as the stand of the UNLF to completely ban the election process in the State, said the source.

After minute discussions, the meeting agreed that all the political parties should approach the ECI to ensure free and fair polling.
