Imphal, March 08: Continuing the tirade against the misconduct of the Thoubal Police commandos who illegally detained Maibam Naobi and violated her feminine chastity, Wakat Meephams were held under the aegis of the Apunba Lup today at various places demanding befitting punishment be given to the guilty police commandos.

Eight localities of the area jointly organised a Wakat Meepham cum dharna in commendation of the action of the police commandos on the innocent girl at Moirangkhom Bazar from 8 am to 4 pm today.

The agitators also shouted slogans demanding punishment of the guilty police commandos, resignation of CM and his Council of Ministers and suspension of CJM Thoubal Mrs Kim from service for her alleged failure to do justice.

At Ghari, the Meira Paibis of the area staged the Wakat Meepham.

Placards with slogans like 'Punish the guilty commandos', 'Remove CJM, Thoubal who fails to do justice', 'Resign CM and his Council of Ministers', etc were used during the demonstration held under the auspices of Ghari Awang Leikai Women's Development Centre.

Similar protest demonstrations were also held at Samurou Bazar, Thangkhong Laxmi Bazar, Yumnam Huidrom, Uchiwa, Nongada, Uripok Khaidem Leikai, Naoremthong Khullem Leikai, Kakwa Bazar and Bamon Kampu.

The three women bodies of Khwairamband Bazar will also be staging a similar demonstration to denounce the action of the police commandos on the innocent girl from Leirongthel Pitra from 8 am to 4 pm tomorrow.

Meanwhile, many social organisations continued to come out with strong condemnation against the action of the commandos and announced their support to the agitation which has been taken up under the aegis of Apunba Lup formed in connection with the custodial killing of Thangjam Manorama by the Assam Rifles.
