Imphal, January 04: The formal notification of the 8th State Assembly Election to be held in February will be issued on January 13 next.

According to an official release, the last date of nomination is on January 23 and scrutiny will be done on the next day while date of withdrawal of nomination will be upto January 28.voting date for valley districts in 40 constituencies (Number 1 Khundrakpam kendra upto number 40 Jiribam Kendra) will be held on February 14 and for hill districts in 20 constituencies (number 41 Chandel upto number 60 Singhat Kendra) will be held on February 21.Voting time will be from 7 am till 4 pm and counting will be done from 24 to 28.Electronic voting machines will be used for the first time in 6 constituencies, they are, 3-Khurai, 14-Yaiskul, 15-Wangkhei of Imphal East district and 11-Sagolband, 12-Keishamthong and 9-Thangmeiband in Imphal west district.

In case of re-poll, it will be held after a gap of one day of voting.

DC of five hill districts, ADCs of Kangpokpi and Jiribam and sub divisional officers of four valley districts will be returning officers of the constituencies under their respective jurisdiction.
