Imphal, April 03: Though the nomination papers of Congress candidate, Francis Ngajokpa have been rejected during scrutiny on April 2, it is still not as yet clear whether the State unit of the Congress will support NCP candidate Holkhomang Haokip in the Outer Constituency.

When The Sangai Express contacted TD Minister Ngamthang Haokip today evening, the Minister stuck to his earlier stand that as a disciplined party, the Congress has to stick by the directives of the AICC and that is to support the NCP candidate in line with the alliance worked out at the all India level.

Haokip said that the nomination papers of Ngajokpa were rejected as the AICC did not give its approval and did not issue Form A and Form B.On the reported meeting held between the Chief Minister and Rishang Keishing yesterday hours after the nomination papers of Francis were rejected, the Minister said he does not have any idea about what was discussed as he was not present.

To a question whether the MPCC (I) has now formally agreed to support Holkhomang Haokip or not, Ngamthang Haokip said that the State unit of the party may be divided over the matter with some willing to extend support while others may be against such an idea.
