All hills bodies being invited, but UNC refuses to accept invitation sent through SP Spt

Imphal, August 02 2010: The government of Manipur in consultation with the Government of India would be organising a Round Table meeting under the chairmanship of Chief Minister, O Ibobi in the Chief Minister's conference hall at 3 pm tomorrow.

The meeting would discuss matters relating to Autonomous District Councils in Manipur.

In this regard, the State Home Department has extended invitations to the cocerned Ministeries of the Government of India, Cabinet Ministers of Manipur, Chairman of Hill Areas Committee, president of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee, academicians and secretaries/presidents of various civil organisations, namely, UNC, NPO, ANSAM, TNL, ATSUM, SDSA, ZIB, CNPO, KIM, CDSA, Zomi Council, etc., Joint Secretary (Home), Government of Manipur, Devesh Deval informed in a press today.

The invitations were sent yesterday.

However, the press release regretted that the UNC had declined to attend the meeting and even refused to accept the invitation sent through the Superintendent of Police, Senapati district.

The Government appealed to all stake holders to come together at this critical juncture in a spirit of reconcialiation and work in larger public interest, the press release of the Home Department stated.

Meanwhile, reliable reports indicated that the Naga bodies such as NPO, ANSAM, TNL, SDSA, CNPO, etc.

are likely to abstain from the meeting.
