Security beefed up for scrutiny

Imphal, April 01: In connection with the election to the Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency which has been scheduled on April 20, scrutiny for the Outer candidates will be held at the Imphal West DC Office at 11 am tomorrow.

Although no official confirmation has been received, reliable sources informed that the AICC high command has given its nod to the candidature of Francis Ngajokpa from the Outer seat.

As per notification issued by the DC Imphal West who is also the Returning Officer, all the Outer candidates who had filed their nominations have been asked to come along with their proposer and agents for the scrutiny tomorrow.

It may be noted here that seven candidates had already filed nomination papers till yesterday.

The candidates are D Loli Adanee (BJP), Mani Cheranamei (Ind), Morung Makunga (AITC), Rosangzuala (JDU), Holkhomang Haokip (NCP), Valley Rose Hungyo (NNP), Kim Gangte (MPP), Francis Ngajokpa (Cong-I) and Thangkhangin (RSP).

Meanwhile, security have also been tightened in and around the city after two UG groups banned two national parties from campaigning or organizing any camps in connection with the upcoming polls, disclosed a source from the Police HQ.

Additional police commandos have been deployed inside the State Secretariat, Minister's Block, as well as both the offices of BJP and Congress as a precautionary measure.

On the other hand, a reliable source from the CM Secretariat has informed that an informal meeting of the senior Congress Ministers and leaders was held at the CM office this evening deliberating on the present political scenario and law and order condition of the State.
