Imphal, March 31: With the filing of nomination papers by Dr M Nara, CPI candidate for the Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency to the Imphal West Deputy Commissioner today, election campaigning for the party also kicked off with two public meetings at INA Complex and Thoubal Mela ground today.

Speaking at the public meeting at INA Complex Moirang today, CPI General Secretary AB Bardhan said that the State needs an MP who has the ability to express the people's wishes in the Parliament and not a person who can hardly speak or write properly.

He also added that the inefficiency of the State's MP was clearly exposed when he failed to persuade the Prime Minister to visit the State following the PM's visit to Nagaland where economic package were being offered.

Recalling the role played by CPI in the various agitations taken for the preservation and protection of the State territorial integrity, Bardhan said that CPI would do everything within its means to counter any move to disintegrate the State.

Making a scathing attack on the BJP led NDA Govt, Bhardhan asserted that step motherly treatment of the BJP to the north eastern States in general and Manipur in particular has brought all developmental works to a stand still.

The short five year rule of the BJP led NDA Govt has clearly shown to the people that the party is interested only in the Man-dir issue and fanning communal tension between the Hindus and Muslims, he charged.

He also appealed to the public to vote for CPI candidate M Nara in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and help in solving the chronic problems dogging the State with regards to development, insurgency, unemployment etc.

CPI candidate Dr M Nara who also spoke at the meeting appealed to the people to support and vote for him in the Lok Sabha polls to bring about all round development in the State.

Kumbi MLA N Mangi, FCS Minister Ph Parijat, FCS MoS Nabadwip, IFCD MoS Th Tomba, M Ibohal, MSCP working president RV Minthing, social worker Amrik Singh Pawa also attended the public meeting at Moirang Complex.
