Imphal, June 12 2010: The Maram Students' Union (MKS) has vehemently condemned the State Govt's act of issuing arrest warrants, wanted tags and fixing rewards against leaders of UNC and ANSAM.

A press release issued by the student body said that such alleged draconian measures adopted by the Government was even more challenging and threatening the dignified offices of ANSAM and UNC.

Accusing the State Government of taking recourse to militarization, it asked as to why the Government did not go to the bottom of the issue to examine the merits of the Naga people's movement with an open mind.

Stating that people's movement cannot be tackled by the use of force alone, unless the root cause is addressed, the Maram Students' Union asserted that the Government should look at realistic solution for the people who have been bearing the brunt of violence for decades.

Any aggressive action upon the Nagas will have its equal gravity of reaction, it iterated.

It also pointed out that the economic blockade is against the controversial Manipur (Hill Areas) District Councils Act and not for any other agenda.

The student body decried the alleged attempt by some sections of media to obscure the real agenda of blockade with Muivah's proposed visit.

It further reiterated their objections to the 'imposed legislation'.
