Imphal, May 31 2010: The Kabui Mothers' Association (KAMA) Manipur held a meeting today at Zeliangrong Building, Kakhulong and discussed the situation resulting from the indefinite blockade with representatives of different civil organisations including the Ima Leibak Thougal Lup, Khwai Ima Keithel, Ima Keithel Shinpham Amasung Shaktam Kanba Lup, Manipur Keithel Nupi Lup (Khwairamband Keithel) and the Keithel Phambi Apunba Lup.

The meeting unanimously resolved to appeal to the State Government and the ANSAM to come to the negotiating table and bring an amicable solution to the ongoing blockade in the interest of the general public, conveyed a press release issued by KAMA.

The Ima Keithel Shinpham Amasung Shaktam Kanba Lup asked all to refrain from using derogatory remarks which may hurt the sentiments of other communities or escalate communal tension.

The meeting also agreed to form a steering committee comprising of the KAMA and the four women's organisations of Khwairamband Keithel to monitor and take stock of the prevailing situation.

Essential items have been scarce following the total blockade.
