Students stage sit-in-protests

Imphal, May 27 2010: Students of some schools under the aegis of Kangleipak Students Association (KSA) staged sit-in-protests in denunciation with indefinite blockades being clamped along NH-39 and 53 at their respective school premises yesterday.

The students demanded the Government for bringing an amicable solution with the agitating tribal bodies so that they can continue their studies without any disturbance.

St Peter High School, Kwakeithel, Regular English High, Kwakeithel, International School of Resource (ISOR), Canchipur, Nirmala Rani High School, Wangoi, Royal Academy of Advanced Learning, Top Siphai, The Dawn Public High School, Yumnam Huidrom, Little Master English Higher Secondary School, Samurou, Brilliant Public School, Samurou were the schools that staged demonstrations.

Talking to reporters, KSA Academic and Community Affairs Secretary Ph Manao Singh said that the protests were held in order to press the Government and agitating tribal bodies to bring a solution at the earliest.

Placards inscribed as 'Let us study peacefully', 'Don't take away our rights', Don't give disturbance to study' and 'Let out State be in peace' were put up by the students.
