Imphal, May 05 2010: Taking into account the possibility of intimidating potential candidates against filing nomination papers to contest in the ADC election at the offices of the respective Returning Officers, the State Election Commission has directed the Returning Officers to station one of their designated Assistants at the office of Deputy Commissioner of Imphal West at Lamphel for accepting nominations from any of the potential candidates in respect of Senapati, Ukhrul and Tamenglong ADCs.

Secretary of State Election Commission Th Chitra Devi has issued an order in this regard today.

Meanwhile, an Independent candidate reportedly filed his nomination paper to SDO Nungba to contest in the ADC election of Tamenglong district which would go to poll along the ADC Ukhrul and Senapati in the second phase on June 2.No one has submitted nomination in case of Senapati and Ukhrul ADC.

On the other hand, three candidates have reportedly withdrawn their nominations papers to contest the election from ADC Sadar Hills in the first phase.

The reasons for the withdrawal of nomination papers could not be ascertained.
