Dimapur, May 29 2010: Naga frontal organisations both in Manipur and Nagaland convened a consultative meeting today at Viswema, some 25 kilometres from Kohima and attended by NSCN-IM general secretary Th.Muivah.

NSCN-IM said that in keeping with need of the hour to face present situation "created by the Manipur state government against the Nagas", a consultative meeting with the Naga civil society groups was held at Kilha Panchayat ,Viswema village.

It was moderated by 'general' retired VS.Atem,Convenor Steering Committee, NSCN and chaired by NSCN-IM general secretary Th.Muivah."The meeting focussed on how to face the situation and solve the problem that had been forced on the Nagas by the Manipur state government.

How the Centre government connived with Ibobi Govt against the Nagas occupies a prominent place in the discussion.," said the NSCN-IM press communique.

It stated that as Th.Muivah drew the attention of the members when he said, ''If you don't stand your ground for your right, you are a lost nation," all theparticipants gave their commitment that they will contribute all their might and never to waver under any circumstances until and unless the Naga problem is solved.

They make it a point to stress that come what may they will stand the ground and never to succumb under pressure, it added.

The meeting reiterated the stand of the Nagas that the destiny of the Nagas lies with the Nagas and the Meiteis have nothing to do with it.

"I believe we have a bright future and we have to work towards that goal", Muivah added.

Putting a challenge before the Naga representatives Muivah said, "If you want to do something for the Nagas, do it now".

All said and discussed, the focal point of the meeting gave clear indication that the 'Naga-Naga relation' is as good as close and there is no meeting point whatsoever, it said.

"What has happened to the Nagas under the chauvinist Meiteis had driven the Nagas to the point of no return, and the Nagas are not wrong to take this stand," was the common opinion of the Naga civil society groups.

The Eastern Nagaland People's Organisation (ENPO) who was represented by its vice president added a point to be noted by the NSCN-K, said the press note of the NSCN-IM.

The ENPO leader said that they are very much understood the problem of the 'southern Nagas', though they could not do much to reach out to them. He also further clarified that ENPO had given full support to the ongoing Indo-Naga Peace process during the 4th Naga Consultative Meeting at Hebron in 2004 .

He also expressed displeasure against the NSCN-K for using its name without its knowledge and approval, and therefore, not to have anything with such statement against its name, it added.

The meeting was attended by the Naga Hoho, Naga Students Federations, United Naga Council, Naga Peoples Movement for Human Rights, Naga Mothers Association, ANSAM, NWUM, ENPO, SDSA, Mao Students Union, Poumai Studets Union, Naga ex-Parliamentarians' Forum, Co-ordination Committee of Naga Civil Societies and elders of Viswema village.
