UCM rolls back 'emergency'

Imphal, May 21 2010: United Committee Manipur (UCM) has declared that instead of declaring public emergency it would continue with its ongoing public movement over the demand for cancellation of the programmes related to the proposed visit of NSCN (IM) general secretary Th Muivah to Manipur by the Government of India.

This was announced by UCM general secretary W Second during a press conference at its office here late evening today.

UCM had earlier served an ultimatum to the Government of India in this regard with the warning of declaring public emergency if it fails to give a positive response to the demand.

Second informed that the 2nd phase of the public movement would begin from June 1 .

Mass rallies, public meetings, community leaders' meet and political leaders' meet, etc are some of the proposed agitational moves in the 2nd phase, he added.
