Imphal, May 19 2010: Explaining that its stand of declare public emergency with effect from May 21 if the Government of India fails to cancel the proposed visit of Muivah to Manipur is not against any community but in the interest of promoting peaceful coexistence among the people and protection of the territorial integrity of Manipur, United Committee Manipur (UCM) has appealed to all the people not to be mislead by rumour and not to spread them.

In a statement, IPR secretary of UCM Kh Nilamani Kha-Ngamba said the motive of the Government of India and NSCN (IM) is to create enmity among the people and disturbed the territorial integrity of Manipur but that of UCM is to promote peaceful coexistence and protect the territorial integrity of Manipur.

UCM has been compelled to take the decision of declaring public emergency in view of the double standard of Government of India over the issue, Nilamani added.
