Imphal, July 02 2010: President of the Manipur People Party (MPP), Dr Nimaichand Luwang today said that a team of the party will conduct a spot survey on both the NH-53 and 39 starting from July 7 next after which they will submit a report to the Prime Minister and Union Home Minister.

The party has decided to submit the report to the Centre considering the suffering of the people of the state even though the 68-day long economic blockade on the national highways had lifted around two week back.

People are determined to make the Imphal-Jiribam section of the NH-53 as lifeline of the state as they are fading up travelling on the Imphal-Dimapur section of the NH-39 passing through Nagaland, Dr Nimaichand observed.

MPP wanted to take first hand stock of the condition of the stretch of the NH-53 first as truckers and buses are facing inconveniences while operating on this route.

The party team will hold interactions with the officials of the BRFT manning the road apart from inspecting the security deployment on the stretch, the president said.

A detail report of the condition of the road and bridges along the highway will also be assessed, he added.

Observing that in most of the time, the NH-53 is neglected by all and remembers only when economic blockade is imposed on the national highways.

In 2005 also when economic blockade was imposed for 52 days on the highways, people as well as government kept view to NH-53 but in due course of time, all forgotten, he observed adding that that was the result now the problems are facing in taking the route.

If the road improvement works was happened to take up during that time, problems facing by the people today might not be happened, he lamented.

After conducting survey on the NH-53, the party team will again conduct spot visit on the stretch of the Imphal-Mao section of the NH-39 .

The findings of the team will be compiled and submitted to the Prime Minister and Union Home Minister by a delegation of the party for taking up necessary action, Nimaichand said.
