Imphal, May 21 2010: Observing that the statements given by Union Home Minister P Chidambaram regarding NSCN (IM) General Secretary Thuingaleng Muivah's visit to Chidambaram were ambiguous, the BJP Manipur Pradesh has demanded Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh to clarify the Union Government's stance on the issue.

Speaking to media persons at their office today, BJP State unit president Sh Shantikumar questioned the motive behind New Delhi tacit move to enable Muivah visit his native village in Manipur even after the people of Manipur had made it clear that cease-fire agreement between Government of India and NSCN (IM) could not be extended to Manipur.

Recalling that Chidambaram earlier said before media that no clearance was given to Muivah to visit Manipur, Shantikumar noted that the changed rhetoric of the Union Minister that the Centre would facilitate entry of Muivah to Manipur has created confusion and heightened disbelief of the people.

The Union Home Minister should resign on moral ground for his irresponsibility and double standard nature, Shantikumar demanded.

To remove the suspicion and confusion created by the Home Minister's ambiguous statements, the Prime Minister should issue a definite clarification to the people of Manipur immediately.
