Imphal, May 19 2010: Making its stand clear over the present crisis besetting the region, the All Manipur Christian Organisation has stated that it is not a mouth piece of any organisation nor of the Government.

This statement is in apparent response to the news item published in The Sangai Express in its May 18 edition, which quoted Government spokesman and IFCD Minister N Biren as stating that the State Government has deputed a 9 member team of the All Manipur Christian Organisation on a goodwill mission to Kohima.

In a statement issued to the press today, AMCO said that it stands as an initiator for peace within communities, irrespective of any civil or social organisations.

"We are committed to creating peace in the State in which we will continue to seek co-operation of all peace loving people," AMCO stressed.

Stating that AMCO is an organisation of all Churches of the State working towards the fulfilment of Christ's message of peace and forgiveness, the statement appealed to all sections of the people to extend their support in their endeavour to defuse the prevailing situation.

AMCO has also appealed to the Government and the civil bodies to come to the negotiating table to bring an amicable solution to the problems facing the State.
