Imphal, May 14 2010: A public meeting was held today at Sagolband Moirang Hanuba Ibudhou community hall today with development of NH 53 as a traffic worthy modern highway as the main under the aegis of the United ClubNH 53 .

The public meeting was attended by president of the United Club NH 53 Th Shyama Khaba Nganba, Pradhan of Lamjao Tongba Gram Panchayat Thokchom Sumanta and president of the Moirang Hanuba Semgat Sagatpa Committee Khwairakpam Amuyaima as presidium members.

Many speakers addressing the gathering dwelt at length on the hardship caused by imposition of blockades on National Highways at the slightest pretext and often for indefinite period holding the entire population of Manipur to ransom.

They also expressed deep concerned over the artificial scarcity of food items and other essential commodities caused by the prolonged indefinite blockade. Despite being a Manipuri Tangkhul born in Ukhrul district of Manipur and studied at DM College, Imphal, NSCN (IM) General Secretary Thuingaleng Muivah has been scheming to disintegrate Manipur.

If he continues to pursue his diabolic agenda, Manipuris will not remain quiet.

All necessary steps would be taken up to counter his move, asserted many of the speakers.

They pointed out the need to develop NH 53 and demanded immediate lifting of the economic blockade.
