Imphal, June 05 2010: Along with taking out a peace rally, Forum for Social Harmony, Manipur, which has been formed with the stated objective of promoting peace and harmony among the various communities living in Manipur, yesterday submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister.

Apart from urging the Chief Minister for redressing the problems being faced by the people on account of the total economic blockade imposed on the National Highways, the Forum demanded involvement of representatives of major communities in the North East in the ongoing peace talks between the Government of India and NSCN (IM).

This is essential to remove any room for confusion and fear in the ongoing peace talks, the memorandum noted.

Flagging off the peace rally from Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen at Palace Compound, the rallyists were approaching towards Sanjenthong when the police stopped them from proceeding further.

Later on, some leaders of the Forum were allowed to go and submit the memorandum to the Chief Minister through his private secretary.

Talking to mediapersons after the rally, spokesperson of the Forum L Joykumar observed that the challenge being posed to the integrity and unity of Manipur on account of sinister designs of the divisive forces is unfortunate for all the indigenous people.

We should find out the real enemy and use our collective strength in fighting the enemy instead of fighting among ourselves, he added.
