Imphal, June 28, 2010: The proscribed United National Liberation Front (UNLF) has described the Manipur Government's stand to ban the NSCN (IM) General Secretary Th Muivah's proposed visit to Manipur as an action within the constitution of India.

In a seven page statement issued today, the Central Committee of UNLF stated that the recent attempt of the NSCN (IM) General Secretary, Th Muivah on May 6, 2010 to visit his birth place at Somdal at Ukhrul district and also Senapati and Tamenglong districts of Manipur should not be made an issue.

It has been made to appear as an issue due to the intervention of Union Home, P.Chindambaram who gave permission to Th.Muivah to visit his birth place.

Though the GoI repeatedly asked the Manipur Govt.to allow Muivah to visit his birth place, it was denied on the ground that if Muivah was allowed to visit Somdal, it will create law and order problems in Manipur.

As per the Constitution of India, law and order is a state subject.

So, the Govt.of Manipur is exercising its right under the Constitution.

To be concluded...
