Imphal, June 04 2010: The JAC Against the Discrimination of Kom community in Exercising their Voting Rights in the 20/Sagang ADC Constituency has demanded a second re-poll in two polling stations of the Sagang DCC.

A public meeting held under the JAC at Sagang Keithel today unanimously condemned the act of booth capturing and denial of Kom people to cast votes by some people at Dampi and Saiton Khullen polling stations during the re-poll held on May 31 .

The public meeting held today was also attended by representatives of UCM, AMUCO, HERICOUN, NIPCO, IPSA, Komrem Union Manipur and Komrem Students' Union Manipur.

Speakers addressing the gathering noted that it was not the time for bigger communities to suppress smaller communities.

All communities should work together to enable smaller communities preserve and promote their identity, culture and tradition of the smaller communities.

The meeting resolved that re-polling should be held in Dampi and Saiton Khullen polling stations before counting the votes of Sagang DCC.

Responsibility for the foul play should be fixed on the polling officials, returning officer and the security personnel on duty at the two polling stations, they demanded.

Copies of a memorandum towards this end were also submitted to Chief Minister O Ibobi and the State Election Commission as well.
