House pays rich tribute to Krishan Kant

Imphal, July 29: The Manipur Legislative Assembly today paid rich tributes to Krishan Kant, Vice President who died on Saturday morning the national capital.

The House was also adjourned for the day after the obituary reference was taken up as a mark of respect to the departed leader.

Chief Minister, O Ibobi said Kant was a great leader.

His death is a great loss for the nation.

Two minutes silence was observed by the members.

Speaker TN Haokip said he had the opportunity of meeting the Vice President recently in New Delhi and the VP was kind enough to give some books to be kept at the library of the Manipur Legislative Assembly.

The VP told Haokip that he is a young Speaker and the youths should now take the responsibility of the country.

He had also assured to provide assistance in the construction of the State Legislative.

O Joy, RK Dorendro, N Mangi, I Hemochandra, Dr Nimaichand Luwang, N Biren also paid obituary reference.
