Imphal, April 29: Responding to the controversial escape of suspect Adai from its custody, the NSCN (IM) has accepted certain security lapses on their part.

While apologising for their slackness to the Fact Finding Committee, the outfit has appealed to extend the deadline to solve the murder case of Muheni Martin and Hrinii Hubert by another two weeks.

A team of the FFC which went to Camp Hebron to take stock of the outfit's investigation into the murder case returned to Senapati today.

On his arrival, chairman of the FFC Solomon Veino remarked that the NSCN (IM) is making encouraging progress in its investigation.

In response to the appeal of the outfit, the period for investigation into the murder case has been extended by another two weeks, he informed.

Adai alias Gaithuilung, one among the nine accused in the murder case reportedly escaped from the custody of the NSCN (IM) at Camp Hebron on April 24.Though there were initials reports that some of the accused have confessed to their involvement in the kidnapping and later murder of the two kids, the outfit has been urging the Fact Finding Committee to give it more time to crack the case.

The two kids were kidnapped on December 14 last year and their skeletal remains were discovered on March 27.The FFC had also earlier served an ultimatum on the State Government to solve the case.
