Imphal, March 28: The Democratic People's Alliance (DPA) after the volte-face received after the unitary decision taken by the BJP to field its candidates in the coming Lok Sabha elections have decided to field Dr L Chandramani, President of the Federal Party of Manipur and former Dy Chief Minister for Inner Manipur Parliamentary constituency and Kim Gangte former MP for the Outer Manipur Parliamentary constituency.

The DPA has been trying to reach to a consensus on the issue.

The members of FPM, MPP, DRPP took part in the discussion held at different places and after rounds of talks the decision was taken according to a source.

For Inner Manipur PC Dr Nimaichand Luwang of the MPP also wanted to contest.

The decision not to contest was taken to maintain the unity amongst the DPA partners.

The MPP insisted that Kim Gangte should be supported by the alliance for the Outer Manipur seat.

After long deliberations it was decided to support her.

The final decision was taken today morning.

The candidates for Outer Manipur PC are likely to file their nomination papers tomorrow.

Election campaign for Outer Manipur PC has intensified.

The contest is likely to be a three corner contest between Loli Adanee of the BJP, Holkhomang Haokip of the NCP and Kim Gangte of MPP.

The Congress party has decided not to field its candidate for Outer Manipur PC.

The Congress leaders are expecting a review of the decision by Monday.

Other sources however said the Congress High Command is not likely to review the decision as the seat sharing with the NCP may break up.

The Congress High Command had already given its commitment to the NCP led by Sharad Pawar.
