Dimapur, May 23 (NNN): Following the defection of the NSCN (IM) MIP Kilonser and Steering Committee (highest decision making body of the NSCN-IM) member A.Z Jami to its fold, the NSCN (K) today said Jamis decision would serve as an example to those who have so long been fooled by NSCN (IM) general secretary Thuingaleng Muivah.

Informing this to Newmai News Network, senior NSCN (K) leader Kughalu Mulatonu claimed that Jami had resigned from the NSCN (IM) and subsequently joined the NSCN (K) as desired by his people.

On NSCN (IM)s demand for integration of contiguous Naga inhabited areas, Mulatonu said that for the cause of Naga sovereignty thousands of Nagas had shed their blood for over fifty years but today Naga integration unfortunately has become the main agenda of NSCN-IM.

Going back to history, Mulatonu said when Manipur attained Statehood in 1972, Nagas of Manipur led by former Chief Minister Rishang Keishing, Ng Hungyo and Kharsung Jojo preferred to remain with Manipur and therefore, Mulatonu said he did not see any reason as to why the Nagas were wasting their common sense on the issue of integration which is a deleted issue.

Mulatonu also said that some NSCN (IM) leaders had recently told people in Zunheboto that they were demanding integration of the Naga inhabited areas to increase their population in Nagalim.

Further, Mulatonu accused NSCN (IM) of bringing in Bangladeshi Muslims into Nagaland and added that the NSCN (IM) would be solely held responsible and answerable to the future generation.

On the other hand, the NSCN (IM)s Lotha Region leader, Chipenthung Ezung said that Jamis defection is senseless.

Ezung stated that as a senior leader of the NSCN (IM) AZ Jami should have shown more maturity.

Ezung also pledged support in the peace talks to the NSCN (IM) leaders, Isak Chishi Swu, Khodao Yanthan and Thuingaleng Muivah.

Sources speculated that the defection of AZ Jami could be the outcome of some grudges with the NSCN-IM leadership.

The sources suspected that Jami held grudges against the NSCN-IM leadership for not maintaining transparency with the senior leaders of the outfit on the ongoing peace parleys and that he was not satisfied with the outfits stand on the integration issue.

Another reason could be that he was among those senior leaders upon whom the NSCN-IM took action by way of seizing his properties acquired under questionable acts.

The NSCN-IM had reportedly seized some half a dozen buildings belonging to some senior leaders of the NSCN-IM recently in connection with corruption allegations.
