Imphal, October 20: All Manipur United Clubs Organization has appealed to people of all the different communities of the State to stand united and face the threat over the State's territorial integrity together.

In a statement, AMUCO's secretary general NC Khuman observed that the State Govt's action of freeing of 13 NSCN (IM) cadres after apprehending them with arms and ammunition from Senapati Dist and at the same time eliminating cadres of other militant outfits in similar circumstances have left the masses in a fix and thoroughly discontented with the present Govt.It has also created apprehension and fear in the minds of the people on the question of territorial integrity of the State, added the general secretary.

Referring to the recent agitation launched by the various social organizations in protest against the fear of dismemberment of the State territorial integrity, Khuman stated it was very unfortunate that some vested interest people tried to communalize the issue during the mass protest by launching attacks on some particular section of the State.

Discussions and interactions between different sections of the people is the need of the hour if we have to carry on the fight against the threat of territorial disintegration of Manipur, said Khuman adding that the interest of all the communities should be well look into so that none of them is given the step motherly treatment as it will act as a deterrent to the interest of the State as a whole.

Khuman also said that protection of the State territorial integrity and peaceful coexistence among the valley and hill people are two most sought after desires of the people Manipur and added that working together for the protection of the state territorial integrity will enhance the emotional bond between the valley and the hill people that had been existing since time immemorial.

He also maintained that the threat to the State's territorial integrity began soon after the Indian Govt forcibly annexed it within the Indian Union in 1949 however the State has been able to survive the threat without any alteration till today because of the strong bonding between the different communities of the State.
