Imphal, June 20: Expressing grave concern over the imposition of the indefinite economic blockade on the National Highways, the All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation has today stated that this is not the solution to any issue.

In a statement, AMUCO said that any differences can always be worked out through people to people contact, but imposing economic blockade will only add to the woes of the people, not only in the valley area but also in the hills.

Even during times of war economic blockade is not resorted to and it is viewed as a war crime, AMUCO added.

In the same vein, AMUCO also said that counter blockades is not the answer and added that such a step will only aggravate the situation.

Reiterating its stand, AMUCO further said that the ties that bind the people have secured the territory of Manipur over the ages and added that at the same time, there are forces working overtime to snap the ties amongst the people.

Pointing its fingers at the elected representatives, the statement said that they should maintain a consistent stand over the territorial integrity issue of Manipur and not keep changing their stand to suit their political ends.

It is unfortunate that the State Government still cannot decide whether to call August 4 as Integrity Day or June 18 as Integrity Day.
