JAC seeks aid for injured victims

Imphal, December 19: In view of the necessity of taking some of the critically injured victims of Pourabi blast for treatment outside Manipur, the JAC formed in connection with the incident has decided to set up two helpline units one each at RIMS and JN Hospital from tomorrow to seek donation from the public.

According to a statement issued by JAC convenor L Bimolata Devi, out of 30 persons who sustained injuries in the blast and are currently undergoing treatment at RIMS, JN Hospital and Shija Hospital, the condition of nine of them are very serious and they would be needed to be taken outside Manipur for medical treatment.

Any organisation or person who would like to donate money to the cause may do so at the two helpline units, Bimolata said.

Meanwhile, it is said that apart from SP of Vigilance Department RK Memi Devi and MLA of Khundrakpam A/C Th Lokeshore who have provided Rs 10,000 and Rs 2000 respectively as aid for the blast victims to the JAC, 14 other social organisations, clubs, Meira Paibis bodies and individuals have also reportedly donated a sum of Rs 2500 to the JAC so far.

The JAC has expressed its profound gratitude to all the individuals, NGOs, social organisations and transporters who have extended every possible assistance in connection with treatment and evacuation of the injured victims as well as all those who have come out with condemning the incident through the media.

Meanwhile, a meeting of the Centre for Child and Youth Development, Keibi Mayai Leikai held today has categorically demanded the proscribed RPF/PLA to court-martial all its cadres who were directly involve in the blast and punish them accordingly to the knowledge of the people.

Setting December 25 as the deadline to meet the demand, the meeting has also decided to launch various agitations from the next day in case the outfit fails to do so.

Moreover, Centre for Child and Youth Development, Ideal Women's Welfare Association and Development Committee, Keibi Mayai Leikai have also decided to boycott all the cadres of RPF/PLA in Keibi Mayai Leikai.
