Imphal, February 16: Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment Oscar Fernandes, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and Fertiliser BK Handique, AICC secretary Ved Prakash addressed a public meeting in connection with the ongoing State Assembly election at the border town which would go to poll on February 23. Works Minister Govindas Konthoujam, PDA Chairman K Ranjit and MLA DK Korungthang were also present during the meeting attended by a large number of people including representatives Maring Uparup Assembly, Maring Students� Union, Maring Nupiya Yenglam, leaders of various villages and communities living in Moreh and Meira Paibis.

Addressing the meeting, BK Handique said no other political parties or Government had been able to provide stability in Manipur like the ruling Congress-led SPF Government which has successfully completed its full term.

For developmental work to continue in Manipur, people should give their verdict to Congress party and re-elect it once more, he said while mentioning the achievements made by the Ibobi-Ministry during the past five years.

Oscar Fernandes appreciated the sporting spirit of the Manipuri players who are doing exceedingly well in the ongoing 33rd National Games at Assam and hoped that the Sports Academy proposed to be set up in Manipur the foundation stone of which had been laid by the Congress-led Ibobi Ministry would give further boost to the State sports players.

Members of Kha Nongpok Apunba Nupi Lup, Nupi Khunai Chaokhat Lamjing Lup, Manipuri Muslim Development Society and Minority Muslim Women Society offered Athenpot at the occasion.
