Imphal, June 15 (NNN): Inspite of the State Governments ban on the proposed rally in Manipur on June 16 and June 18, the United Naga Council ( UNC ) sponsored public rally will go ahead tomorrow in the four Naga dominated hill districts of Manipur namely, Tamenglong, Chandel, Ukhrul and Senapati.

Informing this to Newmai News Network this evening, ex-UNC president Paul Leo said that elaborate arrangements have been made in the four hill districts of Manipur.

News received from Tamenglong said that despite repeated appeals and threats from the NSCN-K outfit not to go ahead with the UNC sponsored rally tomorrow in the four hill districts, the Zeliangrong people are all set to go on with the proposed Solidarity Rally tomorrow.

In the districts of Ukhrul and Chandel too the people will go ahead with the rally defying the Government ban and the NSCN-Ks ban on the rally.

The rally christened Solidarity Rally - Towards Naga Unification sponsored by the apex organisation (UNC) of the Nagas residing in Manipur was planned for tomorrow as a symbol of showing solidarity to the ongoing Naga peace process and also for Naga Integration.

Meanwhile, the Working Group of the United Naga Council has strongly protested the decision of the SPF Government to ban the proposed rally in the four hill districts on June 16.In a statement issued to the press, UNC said that India achieved freedom under the non-violent movement launched by Mahatma Gandhi and there is nothing in the Constitution of India to prohibit mass expression of people's aspirations through peaceful means.
