Securitymen fan out for adjourned polls

Imphal, May 15: To ensure free and fair polling at the 13 polling stations of Vangai Range and eight under Jiribam sub-division during the rescheduled polling on May 17, security personnel have begun moving out to their designated polling stations from today, said sources.

Sources also informed that a large number of polling personnel along with armed securitymen left Jiri-bam for polling stations located in interior areas of Vangai Range on a fleet of boat this morning and further said that security personnel and polling personnel for the remaining five polling stations of Vangai Range as well as for the Jiribam stations would be leaving for their respective polling station tomorrow morning.

It may be noted here that a total of about six thousand and seven thousand voters will be exercising their franchise at polling stations of Jiribam and Vangai Range respectively on May 17.Jiribam ADC L Nabakishore while talking to media-persons today informed that all necessary security measures for holding the rescheduled polls in a free and fair manner have been completed and added that besides deploying 1500 personnel of MR, IRB and Manipur police 30 companies of BSF will also be used for the polling.
