Imphal, October 14: The Leaders' Meet called in the backdrop of the decision of the State Government to release the 13 NSCN (IM) cadres and the demand to know the status quo of the ceasefire between the NSCN (IM) and the Centre today adopted four resolutions including launching a mass public movement from October 16 to 20.The Leaders' meet was organized under the auspices of United Committee Manipur (UCM) and was held at the shanglen of Khunthoknganbi near THAU ground.

The meeting took serious note of the point that even though SPF spokesman Gaikhangam had maintained that there is no informal ceasefire in Manipur the Centre has not come out with any standing commitment on this point.

The leaders present also expressed grave concern that the State Government and the Centre have been maintaining a complete silence even though Centre's interlocutor K Padmanabhaiah has put forward the demand of the NSCN (IM) to carve out Ukhrul and Senapati distrits of Manipur and Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh and include them in a freshly drawn up map of Nagalim.

The meet demanded that the assurance given to the people on territorial integrity and curbing of unlawful activities of the NSCN (I-M) should be put into practice before the Prime Minister's forthcoming visit so that the apprehension may be dispelled from the minds of the people.

The Leaders' meet also resolved to launch a mass protest movement against any attempt to dismember Manipur from October 16 to 20, besides intensifying the ongoing movement to protect the boundary of Manipur.

Addressing the meet, UCM president S Jadumani, who presided over it, wondered whether the SPF Government is for the integrity of Manipur or against it.

If is committed to protection of the territorial integrity of Manipur, then why is it imposing curfew to stop the people from organizing sit-in-protest against any move to disintegrate Manipur, he asked, while reminding that the then PR Government had given freedom to the people to vent their resentment against the extension of ceasefire to Manipur during June, 2001.Jadumani also warned that the SPF Government should be solely held responsible if the territorial integrity of Manipur is disturbed to appease the Naga rebel group by the Indian Government.

Editor of Freedom RK Ranendrajit said that the decision of the State Government to set free all the 13 armed NSCN (I-M) leaders who sneaked into Manipur with the aim of disintegrating its territory has put a big question mark on the credibility of all its legislators.

The people of Manipur should teach a lesson to the Government of Manipur who sneaked into Manipur with the aim of disintegrating its territory has put a big question mark on the credibility of all its legislators.

The people of Manipur should teach no mean lesson to the Government of Manipur and India this time, he added.

UCM vice president K Langamba disclosed that Zeliangrong people have raised five pertinent questions to the NSCN (I-M) during the recent public meeting held at Tamenglong.

The five questions are to the effect of why should the NSCN (I-M) raised the issue of some districts while fighting for an independent Nagaland, why it should perpetrate unlawful activities while pursuing peace talks, why the venue for setting up of a monitoring cell at Tamenglong has been shifted to Senapati, whether Tamenglong district is part of the Greater Nagaland and the implication of the ongoing peace talks to the fraternal ties of the Meeteis and Zeliangrong, Langamba said.
