Imphal, July 13: All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) has extended financial assistance to a woman who was injuries and physically handicapped during the public agitation of June 18, 2001 for protection of the territorial integrity of Manipur.

AMUCO president R Yangsosong Koireng handed over Rs 10,000 to Sorokhaibam Sobita Devi (46) of JN Hospital Quarters during a simple function held at the office of AMUCO, Kwakeithel this afternoon.

Right leg of Sobita had been amputated as a result of the injuries she sustained during the public agitation.

Speaking at the occasion, Yangsosong expressed regret over the failure of other individuals, wealthy families and companies to come up and help the victims of the June 18 agitation.

Every body should extend their help to such victims, he said, adding that as of AMUCO it has been doing whatever it can in this regard.

The president of Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba, Manipur L Memchoubi Devi, president of MEPWAK Keinahanbi Devi, advisor of AMAWOVA S Leirangtonbi Devi and president of AMESCO LS Guite were also present at the occasion.
