Imphal, April 13: For expeditious investigation into the case of kidnapping and subsequent murder of Don Bosco, Senapati students Muheni Martin and Hrinii Hubert, the State Government has instituted a 'special task force' headed by a Senior Superintendent of Police.

Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh and senior officials including Chief Secretary Jarnail Singh and DGP Y Joykumar Singh reportedly conveyed the formation of the probe team to the chairman of the Fact Finding Committee, Solomon Veino during a meeting held at the CM's office this afternoon.

According to Solomon the task force is a well coordinated unit with all the forces spread throughout the entire State and alerted to swing into action promptly on receiving any information regarding sighting of any suspect in the case.

Apart from declining to disclose composition of the team saying it is confidential and a mutual understanding between the Government and the Fact Finding Team, Solomon also preferred to keep under wraps theidentity of the Senior SP for the time being.

It is informed that the Task force has already stared it exercise with immediate effect. As agreed in the meeting, the Task force would share information with the Senapati body on progress of the investigation on weekly basis, the Chairman said while confiding that the Government also urged the Committee to scale down its hard stance on the issue.

Consequently the proposed general strike for an indefinite period slated to begin from 4 pm today has been withdrawn, Solomon maintained.

The Committee had yesterday decided to enforce the agitation in case the Government failed to provide a firm assurance to give information of the case within the stipulated deadline.

To a query, Solomon said the Committee's own probe has been able to establish the fact that many more people belonging to different communities are involved in the crime and that the suspects are still at large probably holing up at different parts of the State.Either on April 20 or on 22, the Committee's team will go to Hebron to resume its investigation, Solomon said.

Skeletal remains of Muheni Martin and Hrinii Hubert were found at a Senapati district hillock on March 27 and since then Senapati haas been in a tense situation.
