Those defying boycott call will get befitting results: UCM

Imphal, October 08: Two persons suspected to be supporters of United Committee, Manipur today beat up a bus driver and a staff of Zet Travels at North AOC for plying passenger services on national highway no 39.The UCM had called boycott of national highway at Nagaland.

The United Committee, Manipur also warned all those who are sending vehicles on National highway no 39 will have to bear the results.

Today afternoon around 12.45 pm a Zet Travels bus (MN01/ 1335) was stopped at North AOC before Asha Cinema by two persons and beat up the driver identified as Achom Inao 34 of Khurai Sarjor Leikai.

The bus was coming from Shillong via NH 39.The two persons then asked the driver to take them to the counter of Zet Travels.

At the counter Yumlembam Jarmo was sitting.

He was beaten up and started breaking the glasses and other goods.

They enquired why the boycott call of the UCM was not heeded to.

The bus belonged to Chirom Mani of Ningthoukhong.

The bus is a brand new one with just one month on the road.

A staff of Zet Travels pointed out that more than ten vehicles reached Imphal and.

other agencies are also sending passenger buses on NH 39.The UCM today said in a press statement that the boycott of highway at Nagaland will continue until a final settlement is reached.

Joy Chingakham Secy Inf and PR said all those who are defying the decision to boycott the highway are anti Manipur.

It reminded that a meeting held on September 11 had reaffirmed the decision to boycott NH 39.The UCM understands the problems faced by the people it added.

The conflict is not between any communities it clarified.

It appealed to all the people of Manipur to collectively fight for the cause even though we are suffering for the time being.

It also reminded that the boycott call was given after the Piphema incident.

The problem is not with our neighboring states or people the statement also clarified.
