Imphal, June 03 2010: "The coming of Th.Muivah in the Naga National scene is very unfortunate for Nagas, rather a curse going by his track records," the NNC said on Wednesday.

A statement issued by the NNC Nagaland joint secretary, I.Toshi stated that Muivah's latest and "perhaps the last political gimmick" came in the form of visiting his village Somdal, by taking advantage of the occasion of a new political activity in Manipur.

The NNC asserted that Muivah, in order to "hook-wink" the Nagas, had commended NNC and its pioneering leaders at Viswema village recently.

However, Toshi said the NNC was not impressed and did not require a certificate from Muivah.

"NNC is not a garment where you can put on when you want and take off when you don't require," the joint secretary maintained.

"Politically Muivah is a traitor and a criminal in crime in first degree," NNC said.

It alleged that, Muivah, apart from his over stay among the innocent villagers in Viswema where he occupied on the excuse of an overnight halt, his criminal activities were recorded in most villages in Nagaland and for the which he was not welcomed even in his own village Somdal.

The NNC branded Muivah "a traitor," since he formed the "so-called National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN) now Nagalim in 1980 by betraying the Naga National Council (NNC) and the Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) who graciously accommodated and nursed him politically" .

It recalled that, on formation of the NSCN, Muivah had condemned NNC and FGN to the extent possible.

The NNC accused Muivah of attempting to change the hard earned historical landmarks of the Nagas, such as Nagaland into "Nagalim," March 22 Naga Republic Day to March 21 and celebrating August 13 as Naga Independence day in the middle of 1990s to August 14 after some years.

The NNC maintained that although, to the Naga public, Muivah was talking about sovereignty, yet to India he was negotiating for federation with India under its constitution.

"Nagas cannot be fooled to accept that Nagaland as a federating unit with India is sovereignty.

Nagas are quite clear that you cannot park Naga sovereignty as you park your car and drive away at will," the NNC said.

"In crime, Th.Muivah is the harbinger of death, suffering and misery to the Nagas, wherever he goes since 1980s," the NNC said accusing Muivah of having killed many national leaders, patriots and simple Naga folks.

It alleged that robberies, extortions, threats and intimidations were the order of the day and that these activities of which Muivah and his gang have antagonized the neighbours, as the case in point with Manipur at present.

NNC said Manipur was not confused with the "Indo-Naga" problem when the cease-fire of 1964 was implemented covering all Naga areas and added it should not be confused even today.

It said the Naga National unity was affirmed under the banner of the historic declaration of Naga Independence on August 14, 1947 which was resoundingly confirmed and sealed by the plebiscite of May 16, 1951 by the Nagas.

It claimed that these historic National landmarks of the Nagas were achieved under the aegis of the Naga National Council thereby solidly entrusting the mandate with the NNC.

"For the Naga National Council is, the embodiment of the Naga polity existing as the supreme national institution where every Naga is a bonofide member of the NNC, unless one chooses not to," it added.

"Thus, in upholding the national stand it is NNC which is competent to conclude a just peace as well as to declare war in defense of Naga sovereignty if compelled," the NNC said.

Holding this position, the NNC appealed to every "Nation" loving Naga individual, community and organization to rally behind it in the days to come.
