Imphal, August 02: Without mincing words, the Manipur University Students' Union today said that the economic blockade called by ANSAM is not against the Government but against the people of Manipur.

In a statement, the student body said that the impact of the blockade is not felt by those enforcing it but by the rest of the people and added that it is clear that the blockade has not hurt the people of either Senapati or Ukhrul.

However the people of Tamenglong are reeling under the impact of the blockade, said the statement and added that this is ample proof that ANSAM is hell bent on not only dividing the people of Manipur but the Naga people as well.

Stating that the NSCN (IM) is behind the blockade, MUSU said there is not an inch of ground to justify the agitation.

On the proposal of ANSAM that any talk with the Government should be held in one of the four hill districts, the student body said that this stand of ANSAM is nothing but an insult to the people of Manipur.

ANSAM should remember that the Chief Minister is the head of the State, said MUSU and added that being the capital of Manipur any talk should be held at Imphal and not anywhere outside the capital.

The stand of ANSAM is an implicit indicator that the hill areas do not belong to Manipur, observed MUSU and added that such policies cannot be accepted.

The Chief Minister too should not succumb to the pressure exerted by ANSAM said MUSU and warned that if he holds the talk outside Imphal then he would be socially boycotted forever.

To protest the economic blockade all students of MU will start wearing black badges from August 4, said the statement and added that MUSU representatives will go outside Manipur to highlight the inhuman action of ANSAM.
