Imphal, July 26 2010: Two Tata Sumos and a Tata Winger waiting for Mao passengers at North AOC here were vandalised by three unidentified motor-cycle borne persons this morning.

One passenger already onboard a Tata Sumo sustained injuries in the attack.

The two Tata Sumos whose wind-shields were broken in the attack have registration numbers MN01K6529 and MN01K-9431 .

The Tata Winger has registration number NL05-B-0784 .

One Tata Sumo driver who was present at the spot said that the attackers might be supporters of those groups banning transportation along NH-39 .

Of the three motor-cycle borne persons, two wielded iron rods which they used to smash the wind-shields of the vehicles.

Even though the Transporters' and Drivers' Council banned has inter-State vehicular movement along NH-39, it categorically stated that the ban would not cover movement within the State.

That was why, the drivers tried to provide transport service between Imphal and Mao, the driver said, adding today's incident has confused people.
