Imphal, June 25 2010: Taking strong exception to attacks and disturbances created by some elements against Mao bound buses at Imphal, the Senapati District Motor Vehicle Owners' Association has sought the immediate attention of the Government towards such uncalled for and communal acts and to stop such activities failing which the association would be constrained to take up its own course of action as deemed fit to get justice.

According to a press release issued by the association, transporters/vehicles parked at North AOC were told not to come down to Imphal and the passengers already on board the buses were forcibly pulled down on June 17 .

Again on June 19, Mao buses stationed at North AOC were threatened not to ply and were asked to go to Nagaland.

This was followed by direct attacks on two Mao to Imphal bound buses at 2nd MR gate and Sangakpham bazar by two unidentified masked persons riding a numberless scooter, causing injuries to a driver and passengers on June 21 .

Even after a bandh was called the next day against these attacks, Imphal based counter agency personnel along with some persons who reportedly identified themselves as UCM members threatened to burn down the vehicles and even going to the extent of physically assaulting the president of the Mao Tata Sumo Association on June 23, it alleged.

On June 24, the Imphal West OC summoned the president of the Senapati District Transport Association through his telephone no 2450002 to his office at Babupara where he was already seated with one Kiran Singh, member of passenger counter agency.

They told the president to stop plying again, it conveyed while calling upon all right thinking citizens to condemn such communal acts.
