Imphal, May 25 2010: The Tangkhul Naga Frontal Organisations (Against ADC Election 2010) has decided to oppose the upcoming ADC elections by imposing a 72 hour total bandh in Ukhrul district with effect from midnight of May 31 .

A decision to this effect was adopted during a meeting of the Tangkhul Naga Frontal Organisations with the council of Tangkhul headmen, chairman and village councils at TNL hall today, said a press release issued by TNL president Solomon Ningshen.

Reaffirming the decision of the United Naga Council to reject the Manipur (Hill Areas) Autonomous District (Third Amendment) Act 2008 and enforcement of the ADC election 2010, the meeting took serious note of the indifference of the State Government towards the aspirations of the hill people.

It appealed to all concerned citizens to adhere to the UNC decision and stay away from the election.

Any untoward incident and eventualities arising due to non-compliance with this proclamation would be the sole responsibility of the individual(s), it said.

Today's meeting was attended by 250 Tangkhul village headmen and chairmen along with their village councils.
