Imphal, January 23: The training programme on operation and handling of the upgraded Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) which would be used for the first time in the State Assembly election has been conducted for the A-group presiding officers and polling personnel of the Assembly Constituencies of Churachandpur district.

The first phase of the two-day long training programme held at Tuibuong Community Hall in Churachandpur District headquarters concluded today.

Similar training programme for the B-group presiding officers and polling personnel would be conducted from January 24 to 25 at the same venue.

All those presiding officers and polling personnel of the A-group who could not attended in the earlier training programme held from January 22 to 23 have been asked to participated in the training programme to be held from January 24 to 25 without fail in an order issued by the Deputy Commissioner of the district today.

The order also made it clear action would taken against those presiding officers and polling personnel who fail to report for the said training programme.

The second phase of the EVM training programme in respect of Churachandpur district has been planed from January 31 to February 1 and from February 2 to 3.On the other hand, in connection with the upcoming election, a joint meeting of all the representatives of the candidates and political parties concerned and election agents in respect of Senapati district which would go to poll in the first phase of the three-phased election on February 8 has been conducted with Deputy Commissioner of the district in the chair at the latter office chamber today morning.

During the meeting, the Deputy Commission appealed to all the representatives for co-operation in ensuring smooth conduct of the election.
